The TRUE Meaning of the Dream

The TRUE Meaning of the Dream
Dr. Alveda King

Did You Know? is a message for our times! For nearly four decades, abortion has invaded our lives, and the results have been devastating. In this publication, serious and dedicated pro-life activists examine the major issues concerning abortion and offer insight and solutions as we approach the return of the sanctity of life.

For too long, people have enjoyed the luxury of avoiding a hard examination of life questions, using common rhetoric such as, “I am not for abortion, but it’s not my right to tell someone else what to do with her body.” In Did You Know?, the authors refute common rhetoric with solid and sensible answers to those who make light of the issue at hand.

Startling statistics cited herein prove that blacks and other minorities have been targeted by the genocidal eugenics of reproductive racism. The authors debunk the rhetoric of “reproductive rights, healthy choice, and comprehensive birth control.”

Abortion methods are not safe—they are deadly, leaving millions of babies dead, mothers wounded in spirit and body, families destroyed, and a society struggling with the impact of the losses. The post-abortion testimonies cited are compelling. The physical and psychological risks are thoughtfully examined and prove to be more devastating than many realize.

For too long, the public has been unaware of the links abortion has to breast cancer and premature birth. Even in the cases of rape and incest, the repercussions of abortion are devastating. The authors cite alternative and effective solutions to abortion, such as help and healing for those who have experienced abortion, help and care centers, abstinence, and adoption.

Dr. King once said, “The Negro cannot win if he is willing to sacrifice the futures of his children for immediate personal comfort and safety.”

Former abortionists join in the struggle and add their voices to the post-abortive parents. They affirm the personhood of the babies and discuss the development of the person in the womb. The rise of pregnancy support groups lends answers to those who challenge the sincerity of the pro-life movement. To those who ask, “What happens once a woman decides to keep her child?” the answers resonate. Pregnancy care centers and adoption programs are there to help.

Abstinence plays a major role in the life affirming benefits of the pro-life movement. In using public platforms, pastors and community leaders have a remarkable opportunity to help “set the captives free.” Pastors and leaders are challenged to step out of the traditions of man, many of which are steeped in the false rhetoric of Margaret Sanger, and to tell the people the truth.

If Dr. King’s dream is to have true meaning, babies’ civil rights must also be respected. Dr. King once said, “The Negro cannot win if he is willing to sacrifice the futures of his children for immediate personal comfort and safety.” Although Dr. King once accepted an award from Planned Parenthood, his positions on non-violence would lead us all to question the violence of abortion, and to indeed cry out today, “We shall overcome…abortion.”
